What's New
In 2010 Bear River
Mercantile Celebrates 20 Years of Operation at Bowron Lake -- We would
like to thank all our 'friends' whose smiles, referrals and repeat visits have
made the years melt away!!
2010 Cash Payment Incentive
--
As encouragement for you to pocket those pesky, plastic
cards Bear River Mercantile will offer a 10% discount on all regular priced
canoe, kayak, cart and cabin rentals when you pay with cash.
Since our Package Deals and Special Group Prices have already been
discounted, they do not qualify for further reduction through this incentive,
though we still appreciate cash payments.
Also, because of the high price of food and shipping costs we cannot
offer this discount incentive on store and restaurant purchases, but with your
cash payments we can continue to keep our store and restaurant items reasonably
priced. See our Yearly Specials page to find out more about this discount.
Bear River Mercantile
Can No Longer Offer Fishing License Sales - The
Provincial Government now operates an internet based "E-Licensing"
service for
Fishing License sales (paper licenses are no longer available). Since our internet
connection is never 100% guaranteed we
cannot provide E-Licensing services. For more information and purchasing of
E-Licenses go to Environment Canada's
Fish and Wildlife Website.
Changes to Restaurant Meals - The restaurant at Bear River Mercantile will be serving "Road
House" style meals. This means that there will no longer be a menu
selection available. Each day we will have specific breakfast and lunch/dinner specials
that will be served exclusively all day long. The food will still be the same delicious home
cooked meals that we are well known for and as always, we will adapt meals for
special dietary needs!

Bear River Mercantile is for Sale
A dynamic and exciting business with unlimited possibilities, Bear River
Mercantile is for sale to motivated and resourceful persons. I say this
because not everyone can operate (or for that matter, even live) with the
technological challenges and self operated systems that come with living 110 kms
from civilization. Serious enquiries only, please e-mail
for more information.
How To Contact Us
Address -- Bear River Mercantile, P.O. Box 251, Wells B.C. V0K 2R0
Radio
Phone -- Dial "0" for a B.C. Telus operator / ask for a radio operator / then give them our
number H496699 on the Wells 595 Channel. This is a party line so you may have to
try several times. If you are out of province or country you will have to get
your operator to connect to a B.C. Telus operator to begin with.

E-Mails are NOT Instantaneous at BRM! -- I am not on the computer to answer e-mails 24/7 AND
sometimes (like during turbulent weather) I am unable to even connect to the
internet. Although I
try to check e-mails once a day from Monday to Friday and once
sometime during
the weekend, sometimes I am unable to get on for a day or
so and never during long weekends! So if you don’t hear from me right away…. just wait, I will get back to you ASAP. With that in mind, please plan well
in advance. Several times last summer I had customers e-mailing at 2pm with the
hopes of booking a cabin for 6pm on the same day, unfortunately I didn't get
their e-mail until it was way too late. If time does get away from you and you find your
self in a rushed situation, then Radio Phone might be a better plan.

I had just finished paddling the circuit of
the Bowron Lakes. I was with my husband and we were both very wet, tired,
dirty and probably stank. But you were very kind to us and I really
appreciate it. We ate lunch and bought some items and were on our way
in much better moods. I just wanted to write and thank you for your
kindness. Heidi and Robert Van
