The Park Reservation System

Advance Reservations for Paddling the Chain are the best way to ensure your departure dates, especially during the high use periods of July and August, but it can be possible to get on without reservations.  Look here to learn how the Bowron Lake Park Reservation system works.

Park Rules and Regulations

The Bowron Lake Provincial Park Website has a  brochure titled "Canoe Circuit Pre-Trip Information". This is a very informative brochure and should be viewed by all potential paddlers.

Preparing for your Trip

Preparation is the key to an enjoyable trip.  Even in bad weather, Bowron Lake Provincial Park can reveal its wonders.  You will enjoy them more if you are reasonably warm and dry, with a good meal in your belly and a well organized camp to relax in after your day on the lakes.  We at Bear River Mercantile try our best to help you plan and pack so that you may experience the most enjoyable wilderness trip possible.  Please feel free to contact us for help, suggestions or answers to your questions.

Bear Safety

Bears and other wildlife are the real residents of the area.  Check here for tips and suggestions on how to travel through bear territory with more confidence.
